About HRSC

Hindu Religious Service Centre (HRSC) is a socio-cultural-religious organisation of Hindus in Kenya. HRSC is wedded to the ideal of service to the Kenyan nation and rendering service for all communities in Kenya.

HRSC is the service arm of Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) which was started in Nairobi in 1947. HSS is an organisation, which aims at promoting  the well-being of the local society by inspiring its members to service. Inculcation of discipline in the members in the members is the most important part of the training in HSS. Currently HSS has members as young as five years to ninety years old.

HRSC is a Socio Cultural and Religious institution of Hindus. It has a managing committee comprosing of Trustees, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and six committee Members who regularly monitor all the activities.

HRSC has received significant donations from various communities, individual donors and Sewa International. This funding has enabled HRSC to establish an endowment fund and continue the service programmes. HRSC has a tax exempt status.

HRSC Service Programmes

Over the last 25 years HRSC has implemented the following programmes:

  • The Jaipur Foot project: Provided Wheel Chairs and Artificial Limbs to amputees.
  • Famine Relief: HRSC organised free food distribution camps in may famine stricken areas of Kenya.
  • School Infrastructure: HRSC has donated books and laboratory equipments to rural school.
  • Sewing Machines Project: HRSC has donated sewing machines to organised groups in order to help the group members become economically self-reliant.
  • Blood Donation: HRSC conducts camps regularly. A list of donors and their blood groups is also maintained for emergencies
  • Medical Camps: Organised 25 camps in over 10 counties. Free medical services provided to over 100,000 people in remote areas.
  • Nursery School: The 'Vivekanand Bal Mandir' school is operated by HRSC and caters to lower income groups.
